NORMA UNE-EN 15614 (WILD FIREFIGHTERS)
_____________________________________________________________________
· INTRODUCTION:
The aim of this standard EN 15614 is to provide the minimum performance requirements for protective clothing designed to protect the wearer when involved in fighting fires and activities.
· PREVIOUS TREATMENT:
Before each test it must be performed the cleaning of protective clothing according to the manufacturer's instructions based on standard processes. If the number of cleaning cycles is not specified, 5 washes will be made .
Conditioning: Prior to all tests and after washing, the test tubes must be preconditioned according to EN ISO 139 with the following modification: relative humidity (65 ± 5)% i temperature (20 ± 2) ° C.
· THERMAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Inflammability (EN ISO 15025:2003, proceeding A code A1):
The flame is applied perpendicular to the fabric. Must meet the following requirements:
- No test tube must swell to the upper edge or side edge.
- No test tube must melt or release inflamed or melted remains.
- The median value of post-combustion time must be ≤ 2 s.
- The median value of post-incandescence must be ≤ 2 s.
- No hole must be formed in any test tube.
Ensayo de acuerdo con la norma EN ISO 15025:2003, procedimiento B (código A2):
- No test tube must swell to the upper edge or side edge.
- No test tube must melt or release inflamed or melted remains.
- The median value of post-combustion time must be ≤ 2 s.
- The median value of post-incandescence must be ≤ 2 s.
- No hole must be formed in any test tube.
- Transferència del calor (Radiación):
When tested according to method B of EN ISO 6942:2002 (= EN 366) at a density of heat flux of 20 kW/m2, the single layer, the assembly of components or assembly of multilayer clothes must have the following minimum:
RHTI 24 ≥ 11 s RHTI 24-RHTI 12 ≥ 4 s
- Heat resistance:
Test each material separately, including retroreflective materials. When testing according to ISO 17493 at a temperature of 180 ° C ± 5 and an exposure time of 5 minutes, no material should melt, drip, swell or shrink more than 5 %
- Heat resistance of sewing thread:
The test tubes of the sewing threads should be tested as received according to the hot plate test defined in EN ISO 3146 and should not melt at temperatures below 260 ° C ± 5.
· MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Tensile strength:
When tested in accordance with EN ISO 13934-1, the outer material must file a medium resistance to tearing, in both directions, warp and weft of: ≥ 450 N.
- Tear strength:
When tested in accordance with EN ISO 13937-2, the outer material must file a medium resistance to tearing, in both directions, warp and weft of: ≥ 20 N.
- Main seam strength:
When tested in accordance with EN ISO 13935-2, the main seams of the garment must present external seam strength: ≥ 225 N.
· ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS AND COMFORT:
- Thermal resistance (Rct):
When tested in accordance with EN 31 092, the material or combination of materials must file an average thermal resistance: ≤ 0.055 m2 K / W.
- Water vapor resistance (Ret):
When tested in accordance with EN 31 092, the material or combination of materials that have a resistance to water vapor:
≤ 10 m2 Pa / W.
· GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Dimensional stability after washing and / or dry cleaning (EN 25077):
For garments with labels of only washing (or only dry cleaning) perform five wash cycles (or dry cleaning) according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The dimensional variation must not exceed 3% in either direction, warp and weft.
- Retroreflective and / or fluorescen provision:
The color requirements of retroreflective and fluorescent material shall be in accordance with EN 471:2003
The fluorescent material and / or combined has to be an area not less than 0.2 m2 and provide visibility everywhere surrounding areas of the arms, legs and torso of the garment.
