A fabric is attached to a membrane by means of a clamping ring. Increasing pressure compressed air on the underside of the membrane causes distortion thereof and the tissue. The pressure is increased slowly until the outbreak of the specimen (fracture), thereby determining the resistance and the outbreak strain.
